sun rec is a long-term project which documents data on the duration of daily sunlight over a period of three years in Tsumari, Japan. Sunrays are directed through a glass sphere – similar to a burning glass – causing the focal point to burn a line into a specific type of paper. Each year, 365 images are recorded, documenting the intensity of sunlight in a particular location. The archive, which stores the recording cards, is located in a specifically designed room. This room also hosts an architectural model, which represents a space that should be created to house the installation permanently.
